§ 31.065 COMMISSION CREATED.
   (A)   Establishment of Commission. There is hereby created in the county a Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission to be known as the “Lake County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission”.
   (B)   Tenure and eligibility. The Commission shall consist of five members. By this section, the present three-member Commission is increased to a five-member Commission. The additional members shall be appointed to serve for terms of three and five years respectively, except as hereinafter provided. In the office of the five-member Commission, no more than three members shall be affiliated with the same political party. Of the initial appointments of the two additional members, one shall be for a term of three years, and one for the term of five years. Thereafter, all appointments shall be for terms of six years.
   (C)   Authority and responsibility. The Merit Commission shall have duties, powers and functions as are provided at 55 ILCS 5/3-8001 et seq., as now or hereafter amended.
