(A) Generally. Speed limits shall be as set by Illinois Vehicle Code (625 ILCS 5/11-601 et seq.).
(B) Alteration. The County Board may alter speed limits set pursuant to subsection (A) above in accordance with § 5/11-604 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, 625 ILCS 5/11-604, and the Policy for Establishment and Posting of Speed Limits on County and Township Highways within Lake County, Illinois.
(C) Work zone speed limits. The County Engineer may set and post a reduced temporary work zone speed limit pursuant to subsections (A) and (B) above in accordance with § 5/11-605.2 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (625 ILCS 5/11-605.2) and with § 5/11-605.1 and the current Policy for Establishment and Posting of Speed Limits on County and Township Highways within Lake County, Illinois, and is to keep records of work zone speed limits as required. After construction on the county highway is completed, the pre-existing speed limit established by ordinance of the County Board shall be in effect.
