9-14-1: PURPOSE AND GOALS:
A.   Title. This Chapter 14 will be known as the LAKE BLUFF HISTORIC PRESERVATION REGULATIONS.
B.   Purpose. The purpose of this Chapter is to promote historic and architectural preservation in the Village. The Village seeks to protect, enhance, and perpetuate those historical structures, buildings, sites, and landscapes valued by the Village and its residents that are significant to the Village history, culture, and architecture.
C.   Goals. This chapter is created in order to achieve the following goals:
1.   To foster civic pride in the beauty and accomplishments of the past as represented in the Village landmarks;
2.   To preserve, promote, maintain, and enhance the Village historic resources and character as a community comprised principally of well-maintained single-family residential neighborhoods and small, thriving business areas oriented to serve the day-to-day needs of local residents;
3.   To protect and enhance the Village attractiveness to residents, businesses, visitors, and prospective home buyers and businesses;
4.   To maintain and improve property values in the Village;
5.   To protect, preserve, and enhance the Village aesthetic appearance and character;
6.   To encourage the historic designation of structures, buildings, and landscapes at the local, state, and national levels; and,
7.   To educate the general public on the significance of historic preservation. (Ord. 2022-10, 3-28-2022)
