1-18-3: GENERAL POLICY:
   A.   The Village website, www.lakebarrington.org, shall remain the Village's primary and predominant internet presence.
   B.   The Village's use of social media tools falls generally into the following categories:
      1.   As a channel for disseminating time-sensitive information as quickly as possible (example: emergency information);
      2.   As marketing/promotional channels which increase the Village's ability to broadcast its messages to the widest possible audience.
   C.   The Village Administrator, or his or her designee, is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of any official social media site on behalf of the Village, the approval of which is and shall be subject to the prior written approval of the Village Administrator, who is also sometimes referred to herein as the "Village web coordinator". Wherever in this chapter a reference is made to the duties and responsibilities and authority of the Village web coordinator, the use of this term shall mean that the role and work of such Village web coordinator shall be undertaken, in each instance, pursuant to either general or specific consultation with the Village Board member in charge of communication.
   D.   All social media sites established on behalf of the Village shall be administered and the content of each such site approved in writing in advance by the Village Administrator and/or his or her designee.
   E.   Each and all social media sites established on behalf of the Village shall include a clear statement that such site is maintained by the Village and that the user thereof agrees to accept and comply with the Village's policy as established herein.
   F.   For the purpose of this chapter, the term "local community" shall mean "contemporary community standards as viewed and perceived by a reasonable person". (Ord. 2017-O-16, 9-5-2017)
