§ 32.03 ASSISTANT CLERK/COURT CLERK.
   (A)   Employment status. Assistant Clerk is a hired position.
   (B)   General statement of duties. Performs administrative support duties in the areas of general office functions, monthly billings, collect water and sewer payments, posting of payments, issue licenses, and greet the general public.
   (C)   Supervision received. Is responsible to Town Clerk and Town Manager.
   (D)   Supervision exercised. None.
   (E)   Essential duties. Performs a combination of clerical tasks including:
      (1)   Performs backup and assists with official administrative duties on behalf of the town;
      (2)   Assists Town Clerk with elections; orders supplies; provides public with information; publishes notices;
      (3)   Assists Town Clerk in retaining records and filing documents. Disposes of materials no longer necessary to keep. Assists in maintaining the town’s official records; develops and updates retention and destruction schedules. Researches minutes and documents for information requested;
      (4)   Prepares for and collects monies for utility bills, sales taxes licenses, business license fees and other monies due the town;
      (5)   Assists with the processing of liquor licensing, posts notices and advises applicants requesting liquor licenses. Issues all other town permits and licenses;
      (6)   Answers the telephone and waits on customers at counter. Responds to questions of the public; researches payments due, receives monies and prepares receipts of same;
      (7)   Sorts, processes and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; and
      (8)   Perform other duties as assigned and required.
    (F)   Experience and training. High school diploma or GED equivalent. At least two years of directly related office or clerical experience.
   (G)   Knowledge, skills and abilities.
      (1)   Skill and ability to keyboard efficiently and accurately while using a computer;
      (2)   Possesses the knowledge, skill and ability to compose and format business letters and minutes;
      (3)   Knowledgeable and able to communicate with the public in a friendly, professional manner;
      (4)   Ability to use mathematical reasoning as necessary to carry out the regulations and requirements of the position;
      (5)   Ability to utilize analytical skills and apply results; and
      (6)   Ability to use and apply technology.
