(A) Office created. There is hereby created the nonelected city office of Code Compliance Mediator.
(B) Powers and duties of Code Compliance Mediator.
(1) The Code Compliance Mediator shall have the following duties: enforce all city ordinances including business licenses, nuisances, littering, building and other code violations. The Code Compliance Mediator shall obey all legal orders of the Mayor and shall, in general, perform all duties assigned to him or her by the Mayor of the city code of ordinances. The Code Compliance Mediator shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the City Council, the Mayor, by statute, or by the personnel policy passed by the City Council. The Code Compliance Mediator shall take the oath set forth in § 228 of the Kentucky Constitution.
(2) The Code Compliance Mediator shall be paid an hourly rate consistent with the current rate being paid to the Code Enforcement Officer position.
