For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ABANDON. Shall constitute the relinquishment of all rights and claims by the owner to the animal.

DOMESTIC. Domesticated dogs and cats, birds kept in cages or totally within the confines of a residence; guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils or similar type animals kept in cages in a residence.
EXOTIC SPECIES. Any animal born or whose natural habitat is outside the continental United States or any animal not normally classified as a family pet, including, but not limited to, lions, tigers, leopards, wolves, bears, badgers, wolverines or any other animal not ordinarily domesticated by humans and because of its nature or physical makeup is capable of inflicting serious physical harm or death to human beings.
FARM ANIMALS. Horses, mules, donkeys, burros or similar equine species; cattle; goats; swine; sheep; chickens, turkeys or similar type fowl, or any other type animal normally associated with a farming operation.
HARBOR. An animal shall be deemed to be harbored if it is fed or sheltered for three consecutive days or more.
OWNER. Every person, partnership or corporation having a right of property to an animal and every person who keeps or harbors an animal, has it in his or her care, or permits it to remain on or about the premises owned or occupied by him or her.
RESTRAINT. Any animal shall be deemed to be under restraint if it is then and there under control of a responsible person and is obedient to that person’s commands, or is within the real property limits of the owner.
