151.10 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE.
   (a)   All full-time members of the LaGrange Police Department shall receive an annual uniform allowance not to exceed six hundred dollars ($600.00). In addition, clothing and/or equipment damaged or destroyed in the line of duty may be repaired or replaced upon prior approval of Council. No firearms or ammunition shall be bought with funds from the uniform allowances.
   (b)   Upon request of the Village Police Chief, and with prior approval of Village Council, newly hired full-time Police Officers may receive a one-time uniform allowance of Nine hundred dollars ($900.00) for the first year of service.
   (c)   All part-time members of the LaGrange Police Department with at least one (1) years' service with the Police Department may receive an annual uniform allowance not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) or with at least two (2) years' service with the Police Department may receive an annual uniform allowance not to exceed three hundred dollars ($300.00) subject to limitations as outlined in the employee's handbook and this section. In addition, clothing and/or equipment damaged or destroyed in the line of duty may be repaired or replaced upon prior approval of Council. No firearms or ammunition shall be purchased with funds from the uniform allowances. In the event of any hardship regarding part-time members, a Police Department representative may approach the Council for additional funds for equipment or uniforms as necessary.
   (d)   Police Department uniform allowance purchases are for basic uniform items only. The Chief of Police shall maintain a list of authorized uniform allowance items that are covered under this section. Any other elective, personal, or non-covered items will be purchased at the employee's expense. There shall be no carryover of unused portions of uniform allowances.
   (e)   All non-clerical full-time employees shall receive an annual allowance not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) for the purchase of personal steel-toed safety shoes or accessories needed to perform his/her work. All non-clerical full-time and year round part time personnel, except the Village Administrator, will be provided with necessary protective safety equipment and a weekly supply of uniforms. Uniforms shall include work pants and shirts, and such other items and accessories as in the opinion of the Village Council are necessary and/or convenient to the efficient discharge of the employee's duties. Uniforms provided shall be the employees' responsibility and returned to the Village upon termination of employment, prior to release of final pay disbursement. All uniforms and other clothing material supplied by the Village shall bear clear and prominent identification of the Village Employee status.
