In the event there is a temporary absence in the office of the Chief of Police, the Mayor may select from the members of the Police Department a person to act as the Chief of Police during such absence who shall have the same powers and duties as the Chief of Police. Such selection shall not be subject to the provisions of Section 137.04 of the LaGrange Codified Ordinances.
