(a) The rate for residential rubbish pickup is $21.19 per month. Residential rubbish pickup charges shall be billed near the first day of each month and be payable upon receipt. After the seventeenth (17th) day of the month, a penalty of ten percent (10%) shall be assessed on the unpaid portion of unpaid charges and added to the total amount due. Said penalty shall appear on the statement for the following month. Should the bill remain unpaid for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of billing, such rubbish pickup service shall be discontinued and shall be resumed only upon payment of past due amounts. If the bill remains unpaid for a period of sixty (60) days from the billing date, it shall be certified to the County Auditor and collected at the same time and in the same manner as all other taxes.
(b) Senior Citizens shall receive a discount credit of $2.28 per month. For purposes of the Ordinance, a senior citizen is defined as any person who is sixty (60) years old or older, is an owner or tenant of and who occupies any single-family residence located within the Village of LaGrange and who is legally responsible for the payment of the residential rubbish pickup charges. Determination of eligibility for the discount credit shall be made upon application and upon presentation of proof of eligibility.
