§ 112.02 DEFINITIONS.
   CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION. Any benevolent, philanthropic, patriotic or eleemosynary person, partnership, association or corporation, purporting to be such, but shall not include religious organizations.
   CLERK. The City of La Crescent City Clerk.
   GOODS. Includes personal property of any kind and shall include goods provided incidental to services offered or sold.
   PEDDLER. A person who goes from house to house, door to door, business to business, street to street or any other type of place to place for the purpose of offering for sale, displaying or exposing for sale, selling or attempting to sell and delivering immediately upon sale, the goods, wares, products, merchandise or other personnel property that the person is carrying or otherwise transporting. The term PEDDLER shall mean the same as the term hawker.
   PERMANENT MERCHANT. A direct seller who, for a one-year period of the application of this chapter to said merchant:
      (1)   Has continuously operated an established place of business in this city; or
      (2)   Has continuously resided in this city and now does business from his/her residence, consistent, however, with all other local regulations and zoning;
   PERSON. All natural persons of any age or either sex, partnerships, corporations, associations, groups, organizations and any other description of a collection of natural persons working in concert or for the same purpose or objective.
   SOLICITOR. A person who goes from house to house, door to door, business to business, street to street or any other type of place to place for the purpose of obtaining or attempting to obtain orders for goods, wares, products, merchandise, other personal property or services of which he or she may be carrying or transporting delivery or performance shall occur at a later time. The absence of samples or catalogs shall not remove a person from the scope of this provision if the actual purpose of the person's activity is to obtain or attempt to obtain orders. This term shall mean the same as the term "canvasser."
    TRADE SHOW, FLEA MARKET or CONVENTION. A gathering of multiple merchants upon one premises, location or area, for a period not to exceed seven consecutive days, for the purpose of selling goods which are similar in nature or related to a particular activity, such as a hobby.
   TRANSIENT MERCHANT. A person who temporarily sets up business out of a vehicle, trailer, boxcar, tent other portable shelter or empty store front for the purpose of exposing or displaying for sale, selling or attempting to sell, and delivering goods, wares, products, merchandise or other personal property and who does not maintain or intend to remain in any one location for more than 14 consecutive days.
