§ 153.078 SPECIAL USES IN THE AG AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT.
   (A)   A public hearing is required.
   (B)   To provide for the location of special classes of uses which are deemed desirable for the public welfare within this district, but which are potentially incompatible with uses herein permitted in it, a classification of “special uses” is hereby established.
   (C)   The following special uses may be permitted, subject to the above provisions:
      (1)   Airports, public and private, subject to the requirement of the Illinois Aeronautical Department;
      (2)   Circuses, provided that they shall not operate more than 15 consecutive days, nor sell beer or alcoholic beverages, and that it shall be located not closer than 1,000 feet to any dwelling except that of the owner or lessor of the site;
      (3)   Cemeteries, mausoleums, crematories or columbariums;
      (4)   Children’s fairgrounds, including only riding and miniature railroads;
      (5)   Commercial resort;
      (6)   Community buildings (Grange Halls and the like);
      (7)   Fairgrounds, racetracks and county farms;
      (8)   Fishing, commercial, in artificial or existing lakes or ponds, including sale of food and fishing fees, soft drinks, non-illuminated for night use;
      (9)   Forest preserves, Conservation Districts, marinas, public parks, commercial camp grounds;
      (10)   Golf courses and golf driving ranges;
      (11)   Lakes (artificial) over three acres;
      (12)   Libraries and museums;
      (13)   Motels and tourist courts; provided, that gravel or other improved surface access roads shall be constructed to parking areas and that parking areas off the public right-of-way shall be furnished at the rate of one parking place for each dwelling unit;
      (14)   Open air illumination for outdoor games such as baseball, football or other uses where glare and noise might unreasonably affect surrounding property or highway traffic;
      (15)   Private clubs and lodges;
      (16)   Private pistol or rifle ranges;
      (17)   Railroad trackage, including roundhouses and repair shops;
      (18)   Rooming and boarding or tourist houses providing lodging and/or meals for more than six persons;
      (19)   Sanitariums;
      (20)   Saw mills;
      (21)   Seed processing plants;
      (22)   Sewage treatment plants;
      (23)   Signs (illuminated);
      (24)   Skeet or trap shooting if not closer than 1,320 feet to any residence or farm group;
      (25)   Temporary asphalt plants and crushed rock storage;
      (26)   Veterinarian office, animal hospitals, animal boarding and kennels;
      (27)   Water works; and
      (28)   Solar arrays, solar farms, solar facilities and other similar commercial facilities designed to generate electricity from solar energy, and for the purpose of selling wholesale or retail all or a portion of the electricity generated thereby.
