§ 32.13 MAYOR.
   (A)   Election; term of office. The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four years and shall be known as the “Mayor of Lacon”, as is provided by statute.

   (B)   Duties. He or she shall be the chief executive officer of the city and shall perform all such duties as may be required of him or her by statute or ordinance. He or she shall have supervision over all of the executive officers of the city and over all of the employees of the city. He or she shall have the power and authority to inspect all books and records kept by any city officer or employees at any reasonable time.

   (C)   Designation of duties. Whenever there is a question as to the respective powers or duties of any appointed officer of the city, this shall be settled by the Mayor, and he or she shall have the power to delegate to any such officer any duty which is to be performed when no specific officer has been directed to perform the duty.

   (D)   Bond; oath; salary. Before entering upon the duties of his or her office, the Mayor shall give a bond with sureties to be approved by the City Council conditioned upon his or her faithful performance of his or her duties, in the sum of $3,000. He or she shall take the oath of office as prescribed by statute, and shall receive such compensation as may be set from time to time by the Council.

   (E)   Mayor Pro Tem. During the temporary absence or disability of the Mayor, the City Council shall elect one of its number to act as Mayor Pro Tem, who, during the absence or disability of the Mayor, shall perform the duties pertaining to the office.
