(A) Every appointive officer of the city shall hold office until the second Monday in May following his or her appointment, or until his or her successor is appointed and qualified, unless it is otherwise provided by ordinance.
(B) In case of a vacancy in any such place, it shall be filled in the same manner in which appointments or selections are made, in the absence of provision to the contrary.
