(a) No person shall occupy, rent, lease or cause to be occupied any newly constructed commercial, industrial or multifamily building or unit in the city without first obtaining a certificate of occupancy. As used in this section, "multifamily" means a residential building containing more than two dwelling units.
(b) Such certificate of occupancy shall be issued and signed after an on-site inspection by the Public Service Administrator or his or her designee and the Fire Chief or his or her designee.
(c) There shall be no fee charged for the inspection required under this section or for the certificate of occupancy issued hereunder.
