Compensatory time will be granted to full-time employees of the Fire Division for any and all extra duty (call backs, drills, approved schooling and the like) at a rate of one and a half times for each hour worked and will be taken as time off in lieu of being paid overtime pay. Compensatory time may be accumulated up to a maximum of 96 hours (equal to four, 24-hour shifts). A maximum of 72 hours of compensatory time can be carried over to the next calendar year. Compensatory time may not be sold back or traded between employees. Compensatory time off will be granted with a minimum of three hours taken off at one time if appropriate personnel are available to cover the time period.
