§ 32.46 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   (A)   Appointment and term. There is hereby created the office of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Village President with the approval of the Board of Trustees and shall hold office at the will of the Village President and the Board of Trustees.
   (B)   Salary. The Chief of Police shall receive, as compensation for all his or her services, a salary as negotiated with him or her and approved by a majority of the Board of Trustees.
   (C)   Duties. The Chief of Police shall be on duty at such times as the Village President or the Board of Trustees may require or direct. It shall be his or her duty to enforce and preserve the peace, order, safety and cleanliness of the village and to execute and enforce all ordinances under the supervision and control of the Village President and the Board of Trustees, to protect every citizen in his or her rights, property and lawful enjoyment of life; to enforce and secure the public order and welfare; to prevent obstructions to public travel and intercourse, and preserve and secure to every person his or her personal liberty.
