This office shall be filled by appointment of up to one Deputy Clerk by the Village Clerk for a term which shall not exceed the term of the office of the Village Clerk. Prior to any such appointment, the Village Clerk needs Board approval to fill the position of Deputy Clerk. The Deputy Clerk appointed by the Village Clerk shall submit to a background check which shall disclose no unacceptable information.
