(A) The Village Clerk shall be appointed by the Village President, with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. The Village Clerk shall serve a term as established from time to time by the Board of Trustees; provided, however, that any such term shall not exceed that of the current Village President.
(B) Before entering upon the duties of his or her office, the Village Clerk shall execute to the Village a bond in the penal sum of $5,000 with a surety as approved by the Village Board. The bond shall be filed with the Village Treasurer.
