§ 152.065 GENERAL.
   (A)   The lawful use of land existing at the time of the adoption of this chapter, or of an amendment thereto, although such use does not conform to the provisions hereof, may be continued; but if such nonconforming use be discontinued, any future use of said land shall be in conformity with the provisions of this chapter.
   (B)   This lawful use of a building, existing at the time of the adoption of this chapter, or of an amendment thereto, although such use does not conform to the provisions hereof, may be continued and such use may be extended throughout the building, provided that no structural alterations be made other than those ordered by the Mayor to assure the safety of the building; and provided further that such extension does not displace any residence use in a residence district established by this chapter.
   (C)   A nonconforming use of a building may be changed to another nonconforming use of the same or of a more restrictive classification, provided that no structural alterations be made other than these ordered by the Mayor to assure the safety of the building; and provided further that such extension does not displace any residence use in a residence district established by this chapter.
   (D)   Whenever a nonconforming use of a building has been changed to a more restricted use or to a conforming use, such use shall not thereafter be changed to a less restricted use.
   (E)   Whenever a nonconforming use of a building or portion thereof has been discontinued for a period of at least one year, such nonconforming use shall not thereafter be reestablished, and the future use shall be in conformity with the provisions of this chapter.
