(A) The opening and closing of regular adult internment spaces (i.e. graves) within said Maplewood Cemetery shall be conducted by the employees of the city for which charges will be set by the city and said charges shall be paid for in advance of the opening of a grave by an individual or by a funeral director. The cost for said opening and closing by the city shall be in the amount of $600 for each opening and closing of a regular adult burial grave, with the exceptions as hereinafter identified. The grave site is dug as six feet deep, four feet wide and eight feet long.
(B) The opening and closing of other grave sites shall follow all guidelines set forth herein in regard as to who opens the grave and how charges are to be paid; however, charges for graves other than regular adult grave sites are to be charged as follows:
(1) Opening and closing for an infant container up to 42 inches is the amount of $400 with a grave site dug as three feet deep, two feet wide and three and one-half feet long;
(2) Opening and closing for an oversized casket and container is $700 with a grave site dug as necessary; and
(3) Opening and closing for cremation remains is $300.
(C) Should the burial in the cemetery occur after 3:00 p.m. on a week day, there shall be an additional charge of $200 added to each opening and closing cost as set forth above to account for this special time of burial.
(D) Should the burial in the cemetery occur on the days of Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday there shall be an additional charge of $275 added to each opening and closing cost as set forth above to account for this special time of burial. Monday is included as a special time of burial since the opening of the grave for a Monday burial will have to occur over the weekend when city offices are closed. Should the burial in the cemetery occur on certain holidays, being days that the offices of the city are closed for a specific named holiday, there shall be an additional charge of $275 added to each opening and closing cost to account for this special day of burial.
(E) In addition to the payment of the cost of the opening and closing of the grave site together with any applicable additional costs, the owner of the grave site or his or her authorized representative or a representative of the funeral home handling the burial shall execute an authorization and release for interment. This document describes the location of the burial plot and places responsibility for ascertaining the location thereof on the owner or his or her representative. This executed document must be presented to the city at the time that the burial costs are paid. The city will not open a grave lot prior to obtaining an executed authorization and release for interment. A copy of said authorization is adopted by reference and made a part thereof as if set out in full herein.
