§ 4-711 GENERAL RESTRICTIONS.
   (a)   No such sign or advertising structure or device shall be printed, pasted, placed or displayed upon any sidewalk or the paving or surface of any street or public way.
   (b)   No such sign or advertising structure or device along any street or avenue shall be at a lesser height above the sidewalk level than eight feet, nor extend outward from the property line a greater distance than eight feet, nor in any event to a point beyond one foot back from the back of the curb; provided, that as to any structure or device used as a sign, peculiar to the trade, occupation or profession practiced at the location that does not extend outward from the property line a distance greater than 12 inches, the limitation as to height above the sidewalk may be reduced to six feet; provided further, that as to any sign painted on the door, window or wall of the building, or displayed on a structure not to exceed three inches in thickness attached to the building, the limitations as to height above the sidewalk level shall not apply.
