Members of the governing body shall receive as compensation such amounts as may be fixed by ordinance, however, a member of the governing body may submit to the City Clerk a signed statement that declares the member does not desire to receive any compensation authorized by this section. Upon receipt, no compensation shall be paid to said member as set forth in this section until such written statement is revoked by another signed statement from the member.
