11-10-1: PURPOSES:

The floodplain supplemental district is designed to:

   A.   Protect life;

   B.   Reduce and prevent flood damage;

   C.   Reduce public expenditures in areas subject to flooding;

   D.   Permit reasonable use of land in areas subject to flooding;

   E.   Promote the general welfare of the community; and

   F.   Prevent or reduce flood damage by keeping floodways free of manmade obstructions to permit the free flow and discharge of floodwater. (Ord. 939, 11-14-2011)
