6-3-11: DESTRUCTION OR ADOPTION OF DOGS RUNNING LOOSE:
   A.   The animal control officer, designated representatives or any police officer of the City shall be required to kill any dog running loose within the corporate limits of the City, which is determined by the animal control officer or police officer to be vicious or crazed and a threat to the public health and safety, and which dog is found running at large without being restrained in a pen or on a leash (as provided by this chapter), without keeping said dog in the Municipal pound for any period of time.
   B.   The animal control officer or designated representatives of the City may destroy, in a humane manner any dog, or a proper home may be established by any person (other than the owner) desiring the animal as a pet and willing to pay applicable fees and expenses for any dog running loose within the corporate limits of the City, which dog has previously been impounded two (2) or more times for running loose and which dog is found running at large without being restrained in a pen or on a leash (as provided by this chapter), without keeping said dog in the Municipal pound for any period of time.
