It is unlawful to dispose of used oil improperly, whether intentionally or unintentionally, in the city. Improper disposal includes placing used oil in any location other than in a container designated specifically for the purpose of storing used oil. Locations where disposal is not proper include, but are not necessarily limited to: in or near bodies of water, including the ocean, boat harbors, creeks, streams, lakes and beaches; dumpsters; the landfill; on the ground; or in any other location that may cause negative effects to human or animal health or well-being, or harm to the environment.
