The following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CHIEF OF POLICE OR HIS DESIGNEE. The Kill Devil Hills Chief of Police or someone from his office with proper authority, acting for and in behalf of the Chief.
TAXICAB. Includes the terms VEHICLE FOR HIRE, SHARED-RIDE SERVICE and EXCLUSIVE RIDE SERVICE. The word TAXICAB shall exclude motorcarriers regulated pursuant to G.S. Ch. 62. SHARED-RIDE SERVICE is defined as a taxi service in which two or more persons, with either different origins or with different destinations or both, occupy a taxicab at one time. EXCLUSIVE-RIDE SERVICE is defined as a taxi service in which the first passenger or party requests exclusive use of the taxicab. This definition shall not include limousines as defined in G.S. § 20-87(4) who are in possession of valid contract for such limousine services.
