§ 32.25 ACCEPTANCE OR DENIAL OF MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS.
   (A)   The Police Chief and the Program Coordinator shall review the application and background investigation results and determine approval or denial of an application based on the disposition, severity, nature and timeliness of any of the following established reasons for denial of membership into the Program. Conviction of any felony or any of the following offenses or violation of any of the following conditions will disqualify, and declare ineligible, an applicant from participation in the Program:
      (1)   Narcotic drug law offense;
      (2)   Two or more alcohol-related convictions;
      (3)   Violation of domestic abuse or child abuse laws;
      (4)   Conviction on any charge involving an offense committed against a juvenile;
      (5)   Any conviction involving moral turpitude;
      (6)   Any law enforcement responses to problems at the home which would not be conducive to the well-being of the child;
      (7)   Two or more violations of the town code;
      (8)   Any falsification of any part of the application or application process;
      (9)   Any other condition or situation which is not in the best interest of the child as determined by the Police Department;
      (10)   Failure to submit to fingerprinting required for participation in the Program.
   (B)   The Program Coordinator shall verify all application information and note any conditions that may affect the safety of the children who would use the residence as a McGruff House. This shall be done through any of the following procedures, including but not limited to:
      (1)   An unannounced home visit to the applicant;
      (2)   A personal phone call to the applicant;
      (3)   A neighborhood check interviewing area households in the immediate vicinity;
      (4)   A check with school personnel for any identifiable problems;
      (5)   Personal reference checks; and/or
      (6)   Other inquiries which may be deemed necessary.
   (C)   Upon completion of the background investigation and administrative requirements, all applicants shall receive written notification of approval or denial from the Police Chief.
