6-5-9: LANDSCAPING:
   A.   Tree Survey: The developer shall provide a tree survey prepared by a recognized arborist or landscape architect. Existing trees shall be preserved, if possible, as determined by the village engineer, village planner or village landscape consultant. (Ord. 03-O-883, 8-4-2003)
   B.   Trees Required: Trees newly planted shall be not farther apart than fifty feet (50') and shall be located no farther than five feet (5') from the property line in the right of way of individual lots; provided, that trees proposed for planting shall not be planted if distances of fifty feet (50') cannot be maintained between such proposed trees and existing trees, and proposed trees shall be limited to those varieties as recommended by the plan commission/board of appeals and approved by the village board.       1.   Tree Caliper: Newly planted street trees shall be at least three inches (3") dbh (diameter at breast height).
      2.   Inspection And Replacement: All planted trees shall be inspected after a one year period and all dead, dying or diseased trees shall be replaced. The developer shall provide a replacement guarantee for one additional year following acceptance of the landscape improvements.
      3.   Prohibited Trees: The planting of the following varieties of trees within public rights of way shall be prohibited:
Box elder

Catalpa

All varieties
Chinese elm
(Ulmus parvifulia)
All varieties
Mountain ash
(Sorbus)
All varieties
Mulberry

   C.   Screen Planting Required: Protective screen planting may be required to secure a reasonably effective physical barrier between residential properties and adjoining uses to minimize adverse conditions of sight and sound. The screen planting plan shall be prepared by a landscape architect licensed in the state and shall meet the approval of the plan commission/board of appeals. (Ord. 03-O-883, 8-4-2003; amd.    E.   Landscape Plans: One set of landscape plans shall be superimposed on an engineering plan. (Ord. 03-O-883, 8-4-2003)
   F.   Paths: All pathways shall be paved with three inches (3") bituminous asphalt over eight inches (8") CA6 crushed limestone; the clay base shall be compacted to minimum ninety five percent (95%) modified proctor prior to the stone installation; the stone shall be compacted to minimum ninety five percent (95%) modified proctor prior to asphalt installation. Further specifications and widths shall be determined by the village engineer dependent upon the purpose of the path, topography, and soil conditions. The village may approve alternate materials if deemed appropriate for certain environmental conditions. (Ord. 04-O-888, 1-5-2004)
