4-2-11: DURATION OF BUILDING PERMIT:
   A.   All building permits shall be valid for a period of twelve (12) months from date of issuance. After the twelve (12) months have elapsed, the building permit shall expire and be of no further force and effect. A building permit may be renewed upon application of the permittee and reinspection of the premises by the building commissioner and the payment of a five hundred dollar ($500.00) renewal fee. At the time of the application for renewal, the building commissioner shall inspect the premises and prepare a list of those items to be completed which the permittee shall sign and acknowledge prior to the receipt of the renewed building permit. The first renewed building permit shall be valid for six (6) months from date of issuance and after the six (6) months have elapsed, the renewed building permit shall expire and be of no further force and effect. The building permit may be renewed for a second time upon application of the permittee and reinspection of the premises by the building commissioner and the payment of a five thousand dollar ($5,000.00) renewal fee. At the time of the application for renewal, the building commissioner shall inspect the premises and prepare another list of those items to be completed which the permittee shall sign and acknowledge prior to the receipt of the renewed building permit. The second renewal building permit shall similarly be valid for six (6) months from date of issuance and after the six (6) months have elapsed, the renewed building permit shall expire and be of no further force and effect. The maximum duration of a building permit shall be twenty four (24) months.
   B.   Provided, however, that in special factual situations the board of trustees, in its sole discretion, may extend a building permit beyond the twenty four (24) month maximum period for any period of time less than one year. Whenever the board of trustees so extends a building permit, the board of trustees may impose conditions on such an extension. All such extended building permits shall state the extended period and conditions, if any, on the face of the extended building permit. A reapplication fee in an amount to be determined at discretion of the board shall be paid by the applicant prior to the issuance of any such extended building permit. (Ord. 07-O-986, 4-5-2007)
