Whenever the corporate authorities determine that the public interest will be subserved by varying the building regulations of this title, and where such building regulations to be varied are more restrictive than those of the codes referenced herein, they may vary such regulations by an ordinance. Such ordinance shall be passed by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the trustees then holding office. In making such a determination, the village board shall solicit the professional assistance of an independent certified building official. (Ord. 05-O-928, 2-1-2005)
