§ 30-4 NAMING OR RENAMING STREETS PROHIBITED WITHOUT APPROVAL.
   (A)   (1)   No person shall name any currently unnamed street or change the name of any existing street, except by authority of the Mayor and Council.
      (2)   It shall be unlawful for any person to lay out any new street within the town without first procuring from the Council approval of the names to be assigned to such new street.
   (B)   (1)   Before a street within the municipal limits of the town may be renamed, the town shall review the proposed change and make a determination as to whether the existing name is related to a historic person or event in order to determine whether such name change is allowed pursuant to S.C. Code § 10-1-165.
      (2)   This subsection (B) directs the County Zoning and Planning Commission to inform the town regarding any street name changes under consideration, and the Town Council shall have the final determination as to whether the existing name may be changed pursuant to S.C. Code § 10-1-165.
