(A) The Council Committee is responsible for:
(1) The solicitation of funds for the cemetery;
(2) The sale of cemetery lots;
(3) The maintenance of cemetery maps; and
(4) Overseeing the management, upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery.
(B) The Council Committee may recommend to the Town Administrator the employment of persons or entities, including a cemetery manager, as a contracted employee, to provide for the fulfillment of any one or more of the committee’s responsibilities. The compensation for persons or entities employed for cemetery purposes shall be paid from funds designated for the payment of cemetery expenses from the General Fund Cemetery Account. The Council Committee will provide the cemetery manager a job description of duties and responsibilities.
(C) The Town Council shall hire a burial contractor to open and close all graves in the Kershaw Cemetery. A contract shall be written between the town and the contractor establishing these services and the rates. The compensation for persons or entities employed for cemetery purposes shall be paid from funds designated for the payment of cemetery expenses from the General Fund Cemetery Account. One duty of the cemetery manager is to notify the burial contractor of the specific dates of any and all scheduled burials.
