249.33 JURY OR WITNESS DUTY.
   (a)   Employees shall be granted a paid leave of absence any time they are called for jury duty, serve as a member of a jury, or are subpoenaed as a witness in any case in any court.
   (b)   Employees shall also be granted a paid leave of absence anytime they are required to appear before any authorized board of commission of the State, County or local governmental agencies. The paid leave of absence shall be only for the time occurring during the employee’s normal working hours, in which the employee is required to serve in such capacity. Any employee released from jury duty prior to the end of his or her scheduled workday shall report to work for the remaining hours, if two or more hours remain on his or her scheduled shift.
   (c)   The employee shall remit all compensation received by the employee for jury or witness duty to the City unless such duty is performed totally outside the employee’s normal working hours.
   (d)   Employees will not be entitled to court leave when appearing in court for criminal or civil cases, when the case is being heard in connection with the employee’s personal matters, such as traffic court, divorce proceedings, custody, appearing as directed with a juvenile, etc. These absences shall be considered leave without pay or vacation.
