The position of police dispatcher is hereby created and three such dispatchers are authorized to be hired, by the Safety-Service Director and as provided in ordinances concerning wages and salaries as from time to time adopted by Council. Such persons hired as dispatchers shall be under the administrative supervision of the Chief of Police and shall work within the Police Department but shall have no authority as police officers. Such persons shall be considered employees of the City and entitled to all benefits of such employees and shall give bond in accordance with Chapter 246.
