All plumbers or other persons installing sewer laterals for purpose of connection with the City sewer system shall before performing any such work, file with the Safety-Service Director a surety bond or furnish satisfactory evidence to the Safety-Service Director that he has a general surety bond which shall be continued for the life of the work in the sum as shown by the following schedule:

The bonds aforesaid shall be conditioned that they indemnify and save harmless the City from loss or damage that may be occasioned in any wise by want of care, skill or attention or the use of defective material, in the prosecution or completion of such work, or that may be occasioned by such plumber or other person making any opening or placing any material in any public street or highway, in the making of any connection with any sewer pipe as aforesaid, and conditioned that such person shall promptly at the proper time replace and restore or cause to be replaced or restored the surface over such opening to as good a state or condition as he found it previous to opening the same and that he shall conform to rules and regulations from time to time established by the Safety-Service Director.
