5-4-5: DANGEROUS ANIMALS:
   A.   Generally: It is hereby declared a public nuisance and it shall be unlawful for any person to own, keep, harbor, care for, act as a custodian of, or maintain in his or her possession any dangerous animal within the City, except at a properly maintained zoological park, Federally licensed exhibit, circus, scientific or educational institution, research laboratory, veterinary hospital or animal refuge, unless confined to an escapeproof and childproof enclosure. In addition, the owner of such dangerous animal must keep and provide to the City, upon demand, proof of at least one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) insurance for liability for injuries or damage to persons or property such animal may cause. The City Attorney or any citizen of the City may file a complaint in the name of the City of Keithsburg to establish the existence of such a nuisance, to enjoin any person from maintaining or permitting such nuisance and to abate the same.    B.   Dangerous Dogs: A dangerous dog is one that has been so determined as provided by 510 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/15.1. (2018 Code)
