It shall be unlawful to remove or cut down any tree or shrub or portion thereof in any street, parkway, or other public place without having first secured a permit therefor. Applications for such permits shall be made to the Street Superintendent and shall be referred by him or her to the Village Board before permission shall be granted. When falling a tree, if damage occurs to public property, fines and repair costs may be imposed.
