§ 70.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   AUTHORIZED EMERGENCY VEHICLE. Refers to vehicles of the Fire Department, police vehicles, ambulances, EMA vehicles, and/or public service corporation vehicles as are designated or authorized as such by the Board of Public Works and Safety.
   BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY. Has the authority, working with the Police, Fire, and Street Departments, to temporarily close streets and/or alleys for city approved special events, repair, or other situations for the safety of all such using city streets and alleys.
   BUSES. Every motor vehicle designed for carrying passengers for hire and used for the transportation of persons.
   CROSSWALK. The portion of a roadway at an intersection included within the prolongation or connection of the lateral lines of the sidewalks from curb to the opposite curbs when unmarked.
   DRIVER. Every person who drives or is in actual physical control of a vehicle.
   ERECTION OF SIGNS, MARKINGS. Working with a traffic engineer, such shall meet required standards. The Board of Public Works and Safety shall have authority to work with the Street Department that all areas are properly signed.
   INTERSECTIONS. The area embraced within the prolongation or connection of the lateral curb lines, or if more, then the lateral boundary lines of the roadways at, right angles, or an area within which vehicles traveling on different streets or highways joining at any other angle may come in conflict.
   RIGHT-OF-WAY. The privilege of the immediate use of the portion of a street used for travel, except when temporarily closed for repair, utility work, tree cutting, and/or sidewalk or special activities as approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety.
