All abandoned service lines shall be physically cut off and secured at the water main, or the best method to secure, in order to eliminate the possibility of leakage due to deterioration. Such work shall be done by the utility. It is the responsibility of the property owner to notify the utility of such abandoned lines. The utility may charge a fee or file for removal of cost to be based on hourly rates per ordinance.
