§ 71.09 UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF SIGNS AND MARKERS.
   The Illinois Department of Transportation and the city, with reference to traffic control signs, signals, or markers owned by the Department or city, are authorized to indicate the ownership of the signs, signals, or markers on the back of such devices in letters not less than three-eighths of an inch or more than three-fourths of an inch in height, by use of a metal stamp, etching, or other permanent means, and, except for employees of the Department or city, police officers, contractors, and their employees engaged in a construction contract approved by the Department or city, it is unlawful for any person to possess such sign, signal, or marker so identified.
