No person shall occupy as owner or occupant, or permit a member of his family to occupy, or let to another for occupancy, any dwelling or dwelling unit which does not comply with the requirement set forth in this chapter, as indicated below:
A. Applicable to any newly acquired residential unit following the effective date hereof.
B. Existing units as of the effective date hereof must be made to comply with this chapter no later than seven (7) years after such effective date (February 24, 1985). (1985 Code ch. 4 § 7-2)
