The language set forth in the text of this chapter shall be interpreted in accordance with the following rules of construction.
(A) The singular number includes the plural, and the plural includes the singular.
(B) The present tense includes the past and future tenses, and the future includes the present.
(C) The word “shall” is mandatory while the word “may” is permissive.
(D) The masculine gender includes the feminine and neuter.
(E) All measured distances expressed shall be to the nearest tenth of a foot.
(F) The word “lot” shall include the words “plot,” “piece,” and “parcel” of land.
(G) The words “used for” shall include the phrases “arranged for,” “designed for,” “intended for,” “improved for,” “maintained for,” and “occupied for.”
