§ 150.07 NUMBERING OF BUILDINGS.
   (A)   Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      ACCESSORY BUILDING. A subordinate building or portion of the main building which is located on the same lot as the main building and the use of which is clearly incidental to the use of the main building.
      BUILDING. Any structure for the shelter, support, or enclosure of persons, animals, chattel, or property of any kind; and, when separated by party walls without openings, each portion of the building so separated shall be deemed a separate building.
   (B)   Numbering required. The owner(s) of each building (except an accessory building) shall prominently display the address of the building, or shall cause its address to be prominently displayed, by number as required by this section. This section does not apply to accessory buildings.
   (C)   Location of numbers. The address numbers shall be displayed as follows:
      (1)   For each building where attached numbers will be readily apparent from the street, the numbers shall be:
         (a)   Attached to the exterior wall of the building;
         (b)   Facing the street adjacent to the building;
         (c)   Near the front door of the building; and
         (d)   Clearly visible at night by a light attached to the building or by a spotlight from the street.
      (2)   For each building where attached numbers would not be readily apparent from the street, the numbers shall be:
         (a)   Attached to a mail box or post;
         (b)   Facing the street adjacent to the building;
         (c)   Located no more than 20 feet from the right-of-way of the street;
         (d)   Located adjacent to the driveway serving the building, if the building is served by a driveway from the street; and
         (e)   Clearly visible at night by a spotlight from the street.
   (D)   Size, color and character of numbers. Each number of the address so displayed shall be:
      (1)   Three inches or greater in height;
      (2)   Of a color that contrasts to the color of the surface to which it is attached; and
      (3)   Arabic. Roman numerals and numbers printed or written other than in arabic are prohibited.
   (E)   Violations. Every person who violates any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a petty misdemeanor, as defined by Minnesota Statutes.
