For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CLEAR ZONE. The area within a 6 foot radius of any primary or secondary distribution line and the area within a 3 foot radius of any service line.
LANDOWNER.
(1) The equitable title holder of land upon which an affected tree stands; and
(2) The equitable title holder of land over which a “clear zone” extends.
PRIMARY DISTRIBUTION LINE. A municipal utility line which transmits high voltage electricity (more than 600 volts).
SECONDARY DISTRIBUTION LINE. A municipal utility line which transmits low voltage electricity (less than 600 volts) and serves more than 1 municipal service customer.
SERVICE LINE. A municipal line which connects the service of a municipal utility service customer to a distribution line and transmits either electricity or cable TV signals.
TRIMMING. The cutting and removal of those parts of limbs and branches which extend into a clear zone; provided, that a tree whose trunk stands within or under any clear zone shall be trimmed symmetrically. Generally, however, trimming shall not be construed to mean the uniform shaping, pruning, or grooming of a tree.
