(A) There is hereby levied a voluntary tax of $10 or other designated amount, billed in the calendar year 2022 and subsequent years to appear on bills for collection of personal property and real property subject to taxation within the county. Provided however, the levy on real property shall be limited to one tax amount of $10 per taxpayer ID.
(B) The voluntary tax shall be set forth as a “Voluntary Animal Control and Care” to be paid by the property owner on his or her own volition. The property tax statement sent to the property owners by the county shall specify this tax as voluntary.
(C) All monies collected from this voluntary tax shall be set aside in a fund to be designated the “Jackson County Animal Control & Care Fund” and shall be appropriated by the Jackson County Quorum Court for animal population control and spay and neuter services and routine care provided by Jackson County Humane Society either directly or indirectly through private entities under contract with the county.
