131.09 RIDING IN POLICE CARS.
   (a)   It shall be the policy of the City that no unauthorized person shall ride as a passenger in a police cruiser used on police duty. The only persons authorized to ride as passengers in police cruisers are those persons designated by the Mayor, Service-Safety Director, Police Chief. However, an on-duty police officer may use reasonable discretion to permit a person to be a passenger in a police vehicle as needed to protect from exposure to the weather or in other situations that might potentially cause harm to that individual or others, or as otherwise required to in the normal course of the officer duties.
   (b)   Any police officer who permits an unauthorized person to ride as a passenger in a police cruiser used on police duty shall be subject to disciplinary action.
