(A) When an abandoned or unclaimed vehicle which is seven years of age or newer remains unclaimed by a person legally entitled to its possession, and it has been 30 days since the notice of tow was given or sent to that person, the officer shall take the following steps:
(1) Send notice to the registered owner notifying the owner of the circumstances surrounding the tow. This notice will contain information as to when the vehicle was towed and the reason for the tow. The notice will provide information on where the vehicle is stored and how the owner may reclaim the vehicle.
(2) The notice will be sent by registered mail and will contain the date on which the vehicle will be disposed of.
(B) If the owner of the vehicle does not respond within 14 business days, the designated officer will document this and will complete the necessary paperwork to turn the vehicle over to the Towing Company to satisfy the cost involved in towing and storing the vehicle.
