7-2-2: CONTRACTS WITH GOVERNMENTAL UNITS:
The city council may, by resolution, approve contracts between the city and any township, village, town or other governmental unit outside the corporate limits of the city, whereby the firefighting equipment and firefighters may respond to calls for firefighting or other emergency assistance for such residents and for such property located within the limits of such governmental units as may be located upon suitably surfaced highways as determined by the fire chief. The city council may, by resolution, fix the charges, period of contract, terms and conditions and deposits required, and such matters may vary according to the amount and value of the property involved, the area, population, accessibility of the governmental unit involved, the distance from the city and any other factors which are deemed pertinent. Such contracts may provide for reciprocal agreements to furnish emergency firefighting equipment or not, as the city council may deem advisable. (1978 Code §12-1)
