(A) The water meter shall be installed outside in tiles and in locations which the company selects. The position of the meter shall be determined by the company. The company may refuse to locate a meter or to provide service to anyone.
(B) The company may, at any reasonable time, inspect all service pipes, water lines and fixture inside the user’s property and premises.
(C) The meter, meter pit, meter valve and meter yoke are property of the town water company. No person shall open, access or change, in any way, the water pit for any reason unless authorized by the Town Water Superintendent. Only employees of the town water company are authorized to turn water on or off at the meter. Any person found to have violated this section shall be responsible for any and all damage caused to town water company property, or a fine of $250, whichever is greater.
(D) If a meter fails, the company may bill the user at a rate based on an average use for the previous six months or the previous months if the user has not been a customer for six months.
(E) The meter, meter pit, meter valve and meter yoke are owned by the town water company. No person shall open, gain access or in any way change the water pit for any reason unless authorized by the Town Water Superintendent. Water shall be turned off at the meter by Water Department employees only and not by customer or any other person. Any water apparatus operated by a person other than a water employee, owner or leaser of property shall be held financially responsible for any and all damages or a fine of not less than $250, whichever is greater.
